Growing REIT is looking to add a Tax Manager to their staff.

A highly accountable and results-oriented professional who will be responsible for supporting the organization’s accounting department by managing US and Canadian tax compliance, in addition to completing daily general ledger accounting tasks. The goal of this position is to ensure timely and accurate tax return filings, REIT compliance and to contribute to the overall efficient operation of the Accounting team to accomplish long-term success and scalable growth.

Primary

Duties & Responsibilities:

· Oversee/monitor tax compliance calendars in US and Canada and provide all required financial information.

· Communicate with outside tax advisors on acquisitions, dispositions, and transactions to ensure accurate and timely filing of income tax returns.

· Calculate and file sales tax, GST and PST filings in the US and Canada.

· Oversee and monitor transfer pricing between US and Canada.

· Responsible for REIT compliance including asset/income testing, REIT checklists, preparation of shareholder demand letters, obtaining property questionnaires.

· Oversee annual property tax assessments, coordinate appeals with outside advisors and calculate property tax passthrough schedules.

· Perform tax return reconciliation for due diligence reporting on new asset acquisitions.

· Assist in month end close process and general ledger accounting related to daily tasks

· Reconcile, review and analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts for discrepancies

· Perform other duties, as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:

· Working knowledge of GAAP and best practices for completing month-end close.
Ability to work with multiple legal entities under different legal umbrellas.

· Able to multitask, establish priorities to meet deadlines.

· MS Office advanced computer skills, Excel intermediate to advanced level.

· Advanced communication skills (both verbal and written), and the ability to communicate with all levels of management and staff.

· Ability to appropriately manage confidential information.

Education & Experience

· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

· Master of Accountancy or Taxation preferred

· Partnership/Corporate tax compliance experience required; real estate preferred
