Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Phoenix, Arizona. This contract position offers the opportunity to work closely with various departments, including finance, warehouse operations, and executive management, in a dynamic multi-state environment. The role involves performing essential accounting tasks such as reconciliations, financial reporting, and forecasting to ensure accurate and timely financial management.

Responsibilities:

- Analyze monthly and yearly expenses, identifying necessary adjustments and preparing recaps in compliance with accounting policies.

- Prepare and post monthly journal entries to ensure accurate financial records.

- Reconcile monthly gross profit data between financial and billing systems to identify discrepancies.

- Compile and distribute financial statements and reports on a monthly basis.

- Conduct budget versus actual expense analyses to monitor financial performance.

- Reconcile General Ledger accounts monthly, addressing errors and discussing key items with management.

- Collaborate with suppliers to manage aging accounts and forecast potential deficit spending.

- Prepare and file various tax reports on a monthly basis.

- Participate in annual budget forecasting and planning activities.

- Process payroll backup tasks and prepare related reports as needed. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.

- Minimum of three years of experience in General Ledger reconciliation.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel.

- Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, including fixed assets, deferred charges, and accruals.

- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

- Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet strict deadlines.

- Experience with accurate data entry and 10-key operations.
