Vaco has partnered with a mission-driven nonprofit seeking a Controller to oversee all accounting operations and financial reporting. This role will manage the month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow projections, and board-level financial reporting while ensuring compliance with grants, government reimbursements, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate has prior experience as a Controller, strong leadership skills, and advanced knowledge of Quick Books Online and Excel.

Nonprofit experience and a CPA are preferred.

• Prepare monthly financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and board reports with analysis and insights
• Oversee accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll, reconciliations, consolidations, grants, and revenue recognition
• Manage cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and compliance with government contracts and grant requirements
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff while maintaining strong internal controls and policies
• Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and reporting to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance

• 5+ years of accounting leadership experience
• Grant management experience required
• CPA preferred
