Duration: 6-month contract with potential for extension.
Pay Rate: $27.00 - $27.14 per hour
Job SummaryThe Project Lead / Coach – Hazard Mitigation Planner will work within the Plans Branch under the direction of the Plans Branch Manager. This role is responsible for leading and coordinating hazard mitigation planning projects at the state, local, and Tribal levels. The position requires strong written planning skills, organizational abilities, and the capacity to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders to support the development and annual updates of hazard mitigation plans.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage planning projects related to the State Hazard Mitigation Plan and local and Tribal Hazard Mitigation Plans.
- Coordinate and facilitate meetings with internal teams, government agencies, and external stakeholders to ensure timely completion of planning deliverables.
- Support annual updates and revisions to hazard mitigation plans in compliance with federal and state requirements.
- Research and evaluate federal policies, directives, goals, and frameworks to assess their impact on emergency management planning documentation.
- Collaborate with federal, state, county, local, Tribal, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and private sector partners as needed.
- Provide guidance and coaching to planning team members to support effective project execution.
- Maintain detailed documentation, timelines, and deliverables to ensure projects remain on track.
- Assist with the development and refinement of written plans, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and continuity-related documentation as required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a high‑level planning role, preferably within a government or public‑sector environment.
- Demonstrated experience with written plans, emergency planning documentation, and/or standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent professional communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Degree in Emergency Management or a related field (open to recent graduates with relevant education).
- Experience with emergency management planning, hazard mitigation planning, or continuity of government planning.
- Knowledge of federal emergency management policies, directives, goals, and planning frameworks.
