Job Summary
Do you have experience working with offender release computations and understand court sentencing documents? The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) seeks a Time Computation Technician Senior. In this role you will apply sentence calculation methodologies, research current and historical laws, and ensure accurate and timely inmate releases. You will work under the direct supervision of unit supervisors and managers and may assist in training new staff.
Responsibilities- Perform complex audits of sentence calculations for a variety of releases using correct methodologies and processes.
- Provide release dates to institutions and inmates.
- Apply legal document interpretation to ensure accurate sentencing structure and citation of applicable statutes.
- Review computer systems related to release criteria to ensure correct sentence structure and accurate release dates.
- Apply knowledge of the forfeiture, restoration, and rescission process for inmate releases.
- Respond to correspondence from families, law enforcement officials, institutions, offenders, legal representatives, and other jurisdictions regarding time computations.
- Assist in the training of new staff within the unit, other ADCRR staff, or outside agencies.
- Attend staff meetings.
- Drive on State business.
- Perform other duties appropriate to the assignment.
- Arizona Revised Statutes (ARS), state and federal laws, ADCRR policies and procedures, and time computation procedures.
- Court decisions and ADCRR policies relating to sentence calculations.
- Methods of releases, time computations, and techniques for accurate and timely inmate releases.
- Current and historical law pertaining to sentence structures and court decisions.
- Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and other applications.
- Written, verbal, and listening communication; mathematical computations; legal document interpretation; critical thinking and problem‑solving.
- Attention to detail and customer service orientation.
- Two (2) years of intermediate‑level technician or equivalent experience.
- Time Computation Certification by achieving an 85% or higher passing score for retention in this position.
- Successful background investigation and completion of Tuberculosis (TB) testing during New Employee Orientation and annually thereafter.
- Completion of the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E‑Verify).
