The Assistant Stylist engages guests, consults on hair care needs, and recommends products and services. The position prepares talent for a stylist role and is a temporary role that emphasizes guest total look. The first 3 months involve mentorship. Months 4‑6 include servicing guests independently. The role requires passion for the industry, exceptional guest service, and willingness to learn technical skills and product knowledge.

• Deliver exceptional guest service and support sales and productivity goals for hair services and haircare products.
• After month three, perform hair services including design, cuts, color, texture, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing where applicable.
• Perform product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance the guest experience.
• Support in‑store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives that deliver an unrivaled guest experience.
• Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services and share benefits of the guest loyalty program.
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance.

• Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures.
• Follow established service protocols to ensure a consistent and exceptional guest experience.
• Utilize booking systems to book guests for return services and events.
• Communicate any supply needs to the Experience Manager.
• Maintain store operational standards, including cleanliness of salon and salesfloor.
• Attend mandatory trainings and meetings.
• Adhere to the dress code.
• Protect company assets by following loss prevention best practices.

• Cosmetology license

• Basic understanding of the latest salon techniques for performing haircutting, haircolor, lightening, styling, texture, treatment, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing services (where applicable) and an aptitude to develop skills and capabilities in all service categories.
• Basic understanding of the use of equipment and chemicals needed to perform technical work.
• Basic understanding to demonstrate, recommend, and sell pro hair care and makeup products.
• Developed communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and build clientele.

• Work a flexible schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

• Frequent mobility during shift.
• Frequent bending, reaching, and twisting.
• Continuous lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs during shift.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time during shift.
• Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects during shift.
• Frequent use of a computer, telephonic devices, and related office and cosmetology supplies.
