Position: Research Technician II, Basic Medical Sciences (College of Medicine-Phoenix)

Research Technician II, Basic Medical Sciences (College of Medicine-Phoenix)

This full-time research technician position is located in the laboratory of Dr. Suwon Kim, where the focus is on cancer biology. The successful candidate will be a well‑rounded, enthusiastic individual with training in basic molecular and cell biological techniques. Experience working with rodents is preferred but not necessary.

  • Works under the supervision of the PI and performs day‑to‑day experiments of tissue culture, DNA, RNA, protein isolation/analyses, cloning DNA constructs, and mouse experiments.
  • Records results in the laboratory notebooks or data folders.
  • Communicates all results to the PI in a timely manner and outlines plans for follow‑up experiments and troubleshooting.
  • Participates in the preparation of technical reports, summaries, protocols, and data figures.
  • Assists with the setup of standard laboratory operations.
  • Organizes and manages laboratory resources including research reagents and laboratory equipment.
  • Facilitates the maintenance and repair of laboratory equipment.
  • Assists with orientation and training of new lab personnel.
  • Provides routine and technical administrative support to lab operations.
  • Writes and updates standard lab operating procedures and protocols.
  • Oversees RLSS compliance for all lab members.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner orally and in writing.
  • Ability to set up and perform a variety of lab or field tests and operations.
  • Experience with recording results, making observations, analyzing data, and interpreting test results.
  • Research knowledge and experience (internship, independent study).

  • High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related field.
  • Molecular biology experience.
  • Experience with rodent surgery.

Non‑Exempt, Full Time. Job FTE: 1.0. Salary: $16.50 – $20.63 hourly rate.
