The Radiation Therapist is responsible for assisting with the daily patient flow in the clinic and supporting the Radiation Oncologist in delivering prescribed treatments. This position requires technical expertise in operating advanced radiation therapy equipment, ensuring treatment accuracy, and providing exceptional patient care in accordance with established procedures and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities- Administer prescribed radiation treatments utilizing Cyber Knife, True Beam, and Gammex HDR systems in conjunction with the Aria Record and Verify
- Perform patient simulations using the GE Lightspeed Big Bore CT under the supervision and direction of the Radiation Oncologist.
- Construct custom treatment devices to ensure precision and reproducibility of treatments.
- Collaborate closely with the on-site Dosimetrist and Medical Physicist to support treatment planning and delivery.
- Prepare treatment rooms, explain procedures to patients, position patients, and administer therapy while continuously monitoring the patient’s condition.
- Uphold the highest standards of patient safety, accuracy, and quality of care throughout all procedures.
- Maintain detailed treatment records in compliance with regulatory and departmental standards.
- Graduation from an accredited Radiation Therapy program.
- Current ARRT (T) certification and state licensure (as required).
- Current BLS certification.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in radiation therapy preferred (new graduates will be considered).
- Proficiency in the use of Cyber Knife, True Beam, Aria, and GE CT systems is highly desirable.
- Strong technical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support patients and collaborate with the oncology care team.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and compassionate service.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to adapt to new technologies and procedures.
- Ability to stand and move for extended periods.
- Ability to assist with patient positioning and transfers as needed.
- Manual dexterity for operating treatment equipment and constructing devices.
This position is based in a clinical radiation oncology setting and involves direct patient interaction, daily use of specialized medical equipment, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary care team.
