Position: Pediatric Dietitian I

Position Summary

The Pediatric Dietitian I (PD I) provides evidence-based nutrition care to patients/families using practice skills which satisfy the needs/concerns of assigned patients. The PD I can formulate and implement an individualized nutrition care plan using current medical nutrition therapy (MNT). The PD I contributes to nutrition care decisions that lead to positive outcomes and is an effective educator. The PD I addresses routine problems in the work environment by providing assistance or referring these to other, more experienced team members.

The PD I prioritizes workload, delivers nutrition care to assigned patients, and discusses/assists/advocates for the nutritional care needs of the patient/family. This position receives oversight by the Manager, Clinical Nutrition Services. Ability to manage daily workload, identify routine problems in the work area and solve problems with advice/assistance from others is required.

Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree and supervised practice experience which meets the requirements for registered diet status of the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. (Required)
Experience
  • Experience in a health care, preferably hospital, environment using current MNT to provide care to general hospitalized patients which may include but is not limited to parenteral and enteral formulas, GI disorders, cardiac, diabetes, renal, pulmonary, and/or weight management/growth concerns/disorders. (Preferred)
  • Pediatric experience (Preferred)
Certifications
  • Eligible to obtain a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (R.D. or R.D.N.) credential recognized by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics prior to start date. (Required)
Special Skills
  • Strong verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills are essential. (Required)
  • Flexibility with scheduled days of work and hours of work, participation in the On-Call/Weekend rotation to meet patient care demands and project/activity deadlines. (Required)
  • Bilingual (Spanish) skills. (Preferred)
