As a Special Procedures Technologist within our Interventional Radiology Lab at Banner University Medical Center-Phoenix, you will be integral part of the team.  We are proud to be Magnet facility, Academic Medical Center, Level 1 Trauma Center, and Comprehensive Stroke Center.

Our Interventional Radiology Lab is high acuity, specializing in venous, arterial, and non-endovascular procedures.  Interventional procedures include angiograms, angioplasty, stent placements, neuro coiling, stroke thrombectomy, embolization of bleeds, Y-90 for liver cancer, ablations, and line placements for chemotherapy and hemodialysis. The IR team is comprised of highly skilled professionals that include registered nurses, interventional radiologist, neuro interventionalist, advanced practice providers, and special procedure technologist.

We have a collaborative culture with the Interventionalist Physicians who have been here for over 10 years.
** Duties:
** Assist during the performance of diagnostic and interventional radiology endovascular procedures to treat disease in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Prepare patients and work area for procedure, pull appropriate supplies, and ensures good working order of items.  Reviews case for correct supplies needed and plans for upcoming cases.
Anticipates the physician’s needs, passes wires, catheters, and devices.
Demonstrates the principles of aseptic and sterile techniques as well as universal precautions throughout the procedure.
** Shift: 3-12 hours shifts Thur/Fri/Sat Nights

POSITION SUMMARY  This position performs prescribed specialized radiographic procedures as directed by following department/facility policies, procedures and protocols. This position ensures optimal care/treatment to patient population.

1. Performs radiographic diagnostic/interventional special procedures by following and verifying referring providers’ orders. Uses independent judgment and applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures.
2. Educates patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment to be performed. Demonstrates professional behavior/conduct in all interactions; fosters teamwork, efficient use of resources and quality patient outcomes.
