Position Summary

Join our team as a Clinical Educator for Pre-op/PACU and play a vital role in supporting the professional development of nurses and clinical staff within the perioperative continuum. You’ll oversee key onboarding and orientation processes for new hires in Pre-op and Post-Anesthesia Care Units, support nursing students and clinical placements, and coordinate foundational perioperative nursing education and professional practice programs. This role partners closely with Pre-op, PACU, anesthesia, and perioperative leadership to ensure safe, consistent, and high‑quality patient care through education.

The position is ideal for a highly organized, collaborative nurse educator who thrives in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment and is passionate about creating exceptional learning and onboarding experiences for perioperative clinical staff.

This position develops, implements, and evaluates proactive educational plans and programs to address staff and departmental needs to ensure ongoing enhancement and improvement of staff skills, competencies and professional growth in accordance with established standards, requirements and regulations.

Position Duties
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the educational department to support the departmental strategic plan and ongoing institutional growth.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and departments as a change agent and participate in the evaluation of outcomes.
  • Engage in ongoing organizational endeavors that support the philosophy and values of Phoenix Children’s, nursing, the model of care and professional development of staff.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate learning opportunities based on evidence using a variety of teaching strategies.
  • Seek and take advantage of opportunities to enhance own professional growth and development.
  • Perform miscellaneous job related duties as requested.

Position Qualifications Education

1. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (Required).

Experience
  • 1 year experience in a preceptor or leadership role in the specific specialty>2 years clinical pediatric nursing experience (Required).
  • Adult teaching experience (Preferred).
Additional Requirements
  • Current State of Arizona RN license (Required).
  • Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association (Required).
  • National Certification in clinical specialty and/or nursing professional development (Preferred).
Physical Requirements & Occupational Exposure/Risk Potential

Physical requirements include continuous and occasional use of fine motor skills, hearing, pushing/pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, stooping/crouching/kneeling/crawling, talking, walking, near vision, far vision, color discrimination, keyboard/mouse use, and lifting up to 35 pounds without assistance. Occupational exposure/risk potential includes exposure in an office environment, airborne communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, fumes, radiation, and toxic chemicals.
