Job Summary

This position assists in human resources (HR) duties related to Employee Relations, Equal Opportunity and Leave Management. This position will be assigned tasks related to the daily needs of these HR units and will act in a cross‑functional capacity. This will include supporting progressive discipline, leave and benefits and accommodations as needed across the entire agency. This position may require travel.

Job Duties

Assist in administrative personnel investigations to include conducting fact‑finding, professional report writing, conducting investigative interviews and writing and processing employee discipline.

Assist in leave and benefits documents for employees that are requesting Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Paid Parental Leave (PPL), Light‑Duty and/or accommodations. This will also include researching benefits inquiries, concerns, issues and other needs.

Create, facilitate, and deliver training related to Employee Relations, Equal Opportunity and Leave Management to various work groups. This may include in‑state travel.

  • Agency disciplinary practices, Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA) personnel rules, Arizona Administrative Code, and FMLA
  • Employment laws and practices to include, Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Federal regulations with Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title VII, FMLA, PPL, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

Selective Preference(s)

Post‑secondary degree in Human Resources or a related field, Human Resources certification (OHR, SHRM, HRCI, etc.) and/or relevant experience in Human Resources.

Pre‑Employment Requirements

Valid Driver's License. If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply:
Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class‑appropriate driver's license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver's license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training.

An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R).

All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
