Description

DM Cantor has only three practice areas - Criminal Defense, Family Law, and Estate & Probate. We are considered one of the top law firms in Arizona – but we’re not a buttoned-up, humorless workplace. Yes, we handle high-profile matters. Yes, professionalism is non-negotiable. However, we also believe that great teams are built by people who can maintain perspective, laugh when things get hectic, and genuinely care about one another.

Human

Resources Officer

As our firm continues to grow, we’re looking for an experienced Human Resources Officer to lead the people side of that growth. This role is about building strong systems, supporting managers, protecting our culture, and making DM Cantor a place where top talent wants to stay and thrive.

What would you do?

As Human Resources Officer, you’ll serve as the steward of our people, culture, and compliance. Your focus will be on ensuring our employees are supported, our managers are equipped, and our HR practices scale effectively as the firm grows.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading the full cycle recruiting process for all staff positions, including candidate screening, interviews, offer letters, pre-hire documentation, and onboarding.
  • Designing and overseeing new employee orientation and training programs.
  • Maintaining accurate, compliant, and confidential employee personnel files.
  • Administering employee benefits programs and serving as a knowledgeable resource for employee questions.
  • Partnering with managers on quarterly performance evaluations, coaching, and development planning.
  • Reviewing and processing payroll and overseeing time‑off requests.
  • Supporting managers with employee relations matters, including exit interviews and offboarding procedures.
  • Maintaining and updating HR policies, procedures, and the firm’s employee handbook to ensure legal compliance and consistency.
Do you fit the role?
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Law firm experience is a plus, but not required
  • A highly organized, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Calm, professional, and discreet—especially when handling sensitive employee matters.
  • Comfortable balancing compliance requirements with a people-first mindset.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
  • Tech-savvy and adaptable, with the ability to quickly learn new systems and tools.
  • A strong communicator who builds trust across all levels of the organization.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Minimum of 3 years of HR or people‑operations experience.
  • A collaborative, positive, and growth-oriented mindset.
  • Someone who can keep things professional and maintain a sense of humor.
Why Work With Us?

You’ll play a critical role in shaping the employee experience at a firm doing meaningful, impactful work. Legal experience is not required—we’ll train the right person. We offer competitive compensation, excellent benefits, and a collaborative environment where your expertise is valued and your voice matters. No two days are the same, and your work will directly impact the success of the firm and its people.

If you’re dependable, thoughtful, and passionate about building strong teams and healthy workplace cultures, we want to hear from you.
