Job Description

Transact + CBORD is seeking a Product Writer to join our Technical Documentation team. In this role, the Product Writer will create and maintain comprehensive documentation for our company’s suite of products. Working within a collaborative team environment, the Product Writer will document highly technical software products used by customers across several industries, including K-12 and higher education, healthcare, and senior living.

This role requires transforming complex technical information into clear, user‑focused documentation that serves diverse audiences from system administrators to end‑users. Additionally, this role works closely with product teams to implement and improve UI copy to meet accessibility and user‑centric design standards.

The Product Writer will work in a modern documentation ecosystem using Git‑based workflows, Markdown authoring, and platforms like Mintlify, Madcap Flare, Adobe Robo Help, Typora, and Microsoft Word. The role will assist our team in actively modernizing documentation processes, including incorporating AI‑assisted workflows and automation tools to improve efficiency and quality. This position reports to the Director of Product Training and Adoption and collaborates closely with product development teams, solutions engineers, and other Product Writers to ensure documentation accuracy and completeness.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience writing technical documentation for software products or enterprise systems
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to quickly understand complex technical concepts and translate them into clear, user‑focused content
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple documentation projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written communication skills with meticulous attention to detail and consistency
  • Experience interviewing subject matter experts and synthesizing technical information from multiple sources
  • Experience designing and developing online help systems
  • Ability to create various documentation types including user guides, API documentation, administrator guides, and troubleshooting content
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment with evolving product requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in payments systems, security systems, or enterprise software
  • Experience with documentation content management systems like Mad Cap Flare
  • Experience with AI‑assisted documentation workflows
  • Experience working with agile development processes

Base salary offers for this position may vary based on factors such as location, skills, and relevant experience. Some positions may include additional compensation in the form of bonus, equity, or commissions.
