Java Architect

* Description
* Amex Enterprise Architecture as an organization aims to set the bar for technology at American Express. The responsibility of Enterprise Architecture Team includes creating Enterprise Architectures, Designs, Standards, Methodologies Best Practices, Reusable Assets etc. Looking for a well-groomed Enterprise Architect to join our Enterprise Architecture team. This individual will work with VPs and Architects to assist creating and maintaining, the enterprise/platform Architectures, Data Architectures, API Strategies, Building Enterprise Solution Architecture for new initiatives.

Also assist to provide technology guidance, road maps, principles, standards, and best practices.

* Enterprise Architect Responsibilities*:
Provides direction, guidance, and implementation of IT Platform architecture to supports various Enterprise Architecture requirements and initiatives. Hands on experience in creating Enterprise Architecture Artifacts such as Models and Documents and presentations.
- Perform rapid POCs to experiment and build rails for the engineering team.
- Support engineers and project managers in rapid development and deployment.
- Work with VPs and Architects to assist creating and maintaining, the enterprise/platform Architectures, Data Architectures, API Strategies, Building Enterprise solution Architectures for new initiatives.
- Actively participate in team and enterprise-wide architecture and engineering discussions.
- Introduce enterprise architectural paradigms and solutions into the portfolio.

- Drive both high level and detailed design and conduct design reviews.
- Engage and work with cross-functional leaders to understand and help define business principles, goals and strategy within scope of responsibility.
- Communicate to leaders regarding strategy direction and changes.
- Mentor engineers and solution architects to ensure technology complexities are understood very clearly to implement solutions expeditiously with high quality.

* Minimum Qualifications:

* - 7+ years of strong hands-on experience in Java and experience with backend or middleware processing.
- Extensive experience in designing and implementing large scale cloud-native platforms with high resiliency, availability, and reliability.
- Strong experience in applications with high throughput and performance.

- Experience with microservices architectures and service mesh technologies is preferred.
- Strong written, verbal communications, presentation skills, leadership, problem solving and analytical skills.
- Proven collaboration skills along with the ability to influence without authority.
- Hands on experience in the following environments is preferred:
Java, Go, Vert.x, React, Envoy, gRPC, Protobuf, Postgres, Couch Base, Cassandra, Redis, Consul, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Open Shift, Git Hub Actions, Drools, Elastic Stack, Kafka, Spark, ML.

- Bachelors degree in computer science, Computer Science Engineering, or related field required;
Advanced Degree preferred.

* 10+ years of Enterprise/Solution/Distributed Architecture Experience

* Strong Experience on creating Distributed Enterprise Application Architectures and Solutions.

* Hands on Experience in creating Architecture Diagrams and Documents

* Strong understanding on creating Enterprise APIs Architectures, Solutions and Strategies.

* Strong understanding of Distributed Data Architecture includes RDBMS, No

SQL, Big Data principles, and practices.

* Strong understanding on Enterprise Security principles and standards and technologies

* Strong knowledge in various deployment IT Infrastructure Architecture such as On Prime, Cloud(AWS, GCP) and Hybrid Solutions.

* Experience in Enterprise frameworks like TOGAF is a plus

* Experience in Agile, Kanban, CICD LEAN development models is a plus

* Experience in hands on in any programming languages such as Java/NodeJS/Python is a plus

* Technology - Golan, Java, Docker , Kubernetes, REST APIs, RDMS (Prefer Postgres), No

SQl (Prefer Casandra) , Messaging ( Kafka)

* Architecture - Fundamental of Micro services, Knowledge about cloud technologies (GCP, AWS).

* Heads on designing system solutions, understanding on business requirements.

* Heads on to do POCs.

* Engage and work with cross-functional leaders to understand and help define business principles, goals and strategy within scope of responsibility.

* This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ.

* Pay and Benefits
* The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $80.00/hr.
