Data migration specialist responsible for planning, mapping, extracting, transforming, loading, validating, and reconciling data into D365 CE / Dataverse. This role will work with functional and technical teams to ensure migrated data supports business processes and reporting needs.
5+ years of overall experience, with at least 3+ years in D365 CE / Dataverse data migration.
CANDIDATE EXPECTATIONSMust understand migration complexity beyond simple imports, including relationship handling, incremental loads, mock runs, reconciliation, cutover planning, and data quality issue management.
- Candidates with hands-on experience using cloud migration and data engineering tools (Azure Data Factory, Databricks) are strongly preferred over those whose experience is limited to SQL-based ETL tools (e.g., Kingsway Soft/KWS).
- Define migration approach and data migration plan.
- Analyze source data.
- Create field mapping documents.
- Perform data cleansing and transformation.
- Build and execute migration jobs.
- Load data into Dataverse / D365 CE.
- Validate migrated records.
- Support mock migrations, cutover planning, and production migration.
- Troubleshoot migration errors.
- Provide reconciliation reports and data quality findings.
- D365 CE / Dataverse data migration experience.
- Data mapping.
- Data transformation.
- Data validation.
- Dataverse import tools.
- SQL.
- Excel-based data analysis.
- Knowledge of lookup mapping, option sets, GUIDs, relationships, ownership, and security-related migration considerations.
- Strong preference for hands-on experience with cloud-native migration and data engineering tools, such as Azure Data Factory and Databricks, over traditional SQL-based ETL tools such as Kingsway Soft (KWS).
- Azure Data Factory (preferred over SQL-based ETL tools).
- Databricks (preferred over SQL-based ETL tools).
- Power Query.
- Dataverse Web API.
- Dataflows.
- Synapse.
- SSIS.
- Kingsway Soft.
- Experience migrating activities, notes, attachments, cases, accounts, contacts, custom entities, and audit/history data.
