The Interpreter will provide interpretation within the State of Arizona to reach individuals with a language barrier. Interpretation will include, but not be limited to, education, legal, medical, environmental, and social services.

This position performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Cayuse.

• Accurately interpret spoken work situations such as lectures, conversations, and meetings.
• Utilize technology to transcribe spoken English in appropriate settings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High School/BA Degree or equivalent in years of experience
  • Medical Interpreting Training School
  • Foreign Service Institute
  • Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters
• Experience with State Department, refugees, FDA, Health & Human Services, medical, legal, housing authority, etc.
• 3+ years of interpretation or translation experience in Qanjobal language.
• Must be able to pass a background check; may require additional checks as required by projects and/or clients.
• Must possess problem‑solving skills.
• Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to respond effectively to customers with a sense of urgency.
• Proficiency in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc.
• Highly motivated and able to handle and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
• Ability to forge new relationships, individually and in team settings.
• Self‑starter capable of working independently and as part of a team.

Reports to:

Deputy Program Manager

• Professional environment.
• Must be on-call; interpreter will be notified within 48 hours of potential jobs.
• Must be able to travel to different locations to interpret in person.
• Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties for extended periods of time.
• Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position.
• Must establish a productive and professional workspace.
• Must sit for long periods of time looking at a computer screen.
• May be asked to work a flexible schedule, which may include holidays.
• May be asked to travel for business or professional development purposes.
• May be asked to work hours outside of normal business hours.

Pay Range: USD $65.00 - $80.00 /Hr.
