Complex Civil Litigation Associate (1+ Yrs Exp)
Remote role; must be licensed in California.
Base pay range: $125,000/yr - $210,000/yr
A litigation-focused firm with a national reach seeks an early-career associate to join its team. The role involves handling complex, high-stakes matters across multiple jurisdictions, supporting senior counsel in national litigation strategy, and building meaningful client relationships.
Key Responsibilities- Develop case strategy and litigation arguments with minimal supervision
- Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, and discovery materials
- Conduct and defend witness depositions, including experts and corporate representatives
- Appear for court proceedings, including motion practice, conferences, and mediation
- Collaborate with multi-firm defense teams and manage tasks for support staff
- Prepare case assessments, risk evaluations, and client communications
- Contribute to client development through professional engagement and communication
- Maintain timekeeping compliance and contribute to team efficiency
- J.D. and active license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- 1+ years of relevant litigation experience in a private practice setting
- Background in mass torts, toxic tort, product liability, class actions, environmental, or commercial litigation is ideal
- Strong research, drafting, and communication abilities
- Highly organized, deadline-driven, and comfortable managing multiple work streams
- Prior experience with legal practice management software is a plus
