Position: Water Law Attorney 3 Years Experience Arizona

Water Law Attorney (3+ Years Experience) – Arizona

Sonja Cotton & Associates is currently seeking an experienced Water Law Attorney with at least 3 years of substantive experience in water rights, water resource management, and related regulatory matters to join a highly respected and growing law firm. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic legal team that is at the forefront of addressing Arizona’s critical water issues—issues that are vital to the state’s environmental, agricultural, and economic future.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise clients on matters involving Arizona water law, including groundwater rights, surface water rights, and Colorado River issues.
  • Represent clients before regulatory agencies, administrative boards, and in litigation related to water rights and use.
  • Draft legal documents including memoranda, contracts, and regulatory filings.
  • Collaborate with clients ranging from municipalities and tribal governments to private landowners, utilities, and developers.
  • Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments affecting water law in Arizona.
Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in Arizona (required).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience practicing in water law or closely related areas.
  • Strong understanding of Arizona’s legal framework for water rights and water management.
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex cases and client matters simultaneously.
