The expected ENTRY pay range for this position is expected to be $39.75 to $43.75.
This position is non-exempt under the FLSA.

About the Position

An official Court Reporter provides verbatim reporting of court proceedings. The Court Reporter must prepare accurate and timely transcripts pursuant to Arizona Revised Statutes A.R.S. Title 32, Chapter 40. Court Reporters can be assigned to any of the five court locations throughout Maricopa County and work in any court department, including but not limited to grand jury, criminal, civil, family, juvenile, probate/mental health, and administrative hearings.
The Judicial Branch provides reimbursement for employee’s professional licensure/certification costs required to qualify for and maintain employment, or to legally perform their job. The reimbursement applies to costs associated with the maintenance of the required license/certification, not the initial costs to become licensed/certified

Position Qualifications

Education:
- High school diploma or GED
Experience:
- Two years of professional court reporting experience
Other Requirements:
- Arizona Certification as a court reporter pursuant to A.R.S. Title 32, Chapter 40.
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire, a valid Arizona driver's license.
Our Preferred Candidate has:
- Four years of court reporting experience
- Experience transcribing a full range of judicial proceedings
- Certification in real-time reporting
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Knowledge of:
- Courtroom practices and procedures and legal terminology.
- Stenograph or other specialized equipment and court reporting software.
- Preparing transcripts of cases, including researching specialized terminology, statutes or case citations.
Skill in:
- The operation and maintenance of stenograph equipment.
- The use of court reporting software.
- Using standard office machines
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Ability to:
- Transcribe court proceedings quickly and accurately.
- Maintain and update computer text, dictionary, and backup files.
- Communicate in a clear, concise and organized manner.
