Operations Manager
The Weitz Company, a full‑service construction firm with a history since 1855, is seeking an MEP Project Manager - Data Center for its Phoenix, AZ business unit.
As Project Manager, you will profitably manage all administrative and field construction activities to quality standards, maintain relationships with stakeholders, and lead a team on medium‑ to large‑scale data center projects.
Responsibilities- Construct the project in accordance with plans, schedule, specifications and standards
- Lead subcontractors and field employees on the job site
- Lead project safety in accordance with the Company’s Safety Policy
- Work alongside the Project Manager(s) to manage the project schedule, budget and staff
- Develop and maintain the project schedule using scheduling software; prepare two‑week look‑ahead schedules
- Assist with the buyout and selection of major subcontractors
- Recommend ways to reduce cost, improve schedule dates, and increase project quality
- Ensure project documents are accurate, timely and in compliance (e.g., closeout documents, submittals, daily logs)
- Review and enforce all contract terms and obligations
- Adhere to all company policies, standards and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
- Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of extensive field and project construction management experience, with data center experience strongly preferred
- Ten years of experience in field and project construction management is preferred
- Experience in a fast‑paced environment
- Proven history of leading others, teaching, developing and mentoring teams
- Skills
- Excellent leadership and mentoring abilities
- Strong negotiation, communication, and business acumen
- Ability to compare and analyze system options and cost impacts
- Detail‑oriented and highly organized
- Ability to balance and prioritize projects with impending deadlines
- Technology
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Apple products (iPhone & iPad); ability to learn specific software
- Solid experience with Procore, JDE, and Asta preferred
- Training will be provided on company standards
