Grind Machinist

Job Overview

Night Shift machinist position specializing in /OD grinding. Work with manual and CNC grinders.

3617 E La Salle St, Phoenix, AZ 85040 (South Phoenix – 40th St & Southern).

Night Shift (20% differential pay).

• Grinds and blends steel to prepare for paint or powder.
• Selects, mounts, attaches and calibrates attachments to grind angles, contours, lines, spheres, etc. onto surfaces.
• Completes required paperwork such as inspection reports, SPC, job travelers.
• Works within tolerances of .0002–.0005.
• Operates up to two machines independently.
• Problem‑solves and communicates process improvement suggestions with management.

• Familiarity with Okuma and Kellenberger grinders;
  Heald experience a plus.
• Proficient with standard inspection equipment – indicating micrometers, bore gauges, Sunnen gauges, test indicators.
• Experience in grinding with holding tolerances preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and quality‑focused mindset.
• General knowledge of hand tools, portable power tools, and bench tools.
• Ability to read and interpret written information and follow directions.

• High School diploma or GED.
• Preferred CNC experience (not required).
• 5+ years /OD grinding experience; will train lathe or mill machinist seeking growth.
