CNC Mill Machinist II

Location:

Chandler, AZ

Professional Placement Services (PPS) is offering this full-time position with a highly competitive pay rate and excellent benefits.

Base pay range: $20.00/hr – $23.00/hr

Responsibilities:
  • Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
  • Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads.
  • Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces, adhering to international standards.
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
Ideal Candidate:
  • Basic math skills for calculating material fabrication.
  • Intermediate knowledge of precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges, indicators).
  • Intermediate reading of drawings and specifications with Euclidean tolerance and dimensions.
  • Intermediate knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and accessories used on CNC machines.
  • Experience programming mills and lathes, including zero/reference points, tool registers, offsets, and compensations.
  • Adaptability to a changing work environment and ability to handle frequent changes, delays or unexpected events.
  • Strong work ethic, willingness to work overtime and shifts.
  • Capacity to work in a fast‑paced environment, meet deadlines and stand for long periods.
  • Contribution to continuous improvement in output, quality, cost and delivery.
  • 4+ years operating CNC machines (lathes and milling machines) in a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Haas CNC Mill experience preferred.
