CNC Mill Machinist II
Location:
Chandler, AZ
Professional Placement Services (PPS) is offering this full-time position with a highly competitive pay rate and excellent benefits.
Base pay range: $20.00/hr – $23.00/hr
Responsibilities:- Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
- Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads.
- Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
- Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces, adhering to international standards.
- Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
- Basic math skills for calculating material fabrication.
- Intermediate knowledge of precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges, indicators).
- Intermediate reading of drawings and specifications with Euclidean tolerance and dimensions.
- Intermediate knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and accessories used on CNC machines.
- Experience programming mills and lathes, including zero/reference points, tool registers, offsets, and compensations.
- Adaptability to a changing work environment and ability to handle frequent changes, delays or unexpected events.
- Strong work ethic, willingness to work overtime and shifts.
- Capacity to work in a fast‑paced environment, meet deadlines and stand for long periods.
- Contribution to continuous improvement in output, quality, cost and delivery.
- 4+ years operating CNC machines (lathes and milling machines) in a heavy manufacturing environment.
- Haas CNC Mill experience preferred.
