Wildlife Specialist Supervisor Statewide – “Research Biologist” – WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT DIVISION / WL CONTRACTS BRANCH / PHOENIX, AZ BASED. FLSA‑Exempt / GRADE 24 / HIRING SALARY RANGE $65,000 - $90,000. REQUISITION #537633. The position plans, organizes, analyzes, conducts and coordinates professional fish and wildlife management activities in the office, field or laboratory. Develops and uses best practices in managing the state's fish and wildlife populations and their habitats.
Oversees work, programs and projects related to areas of expertise and focal species. Provides consultation, technical advice and makes public presentations.
- Under Branch Chief oversight, manages Branch budgets, project invoicing, project initiation and tracking, equipment purchase and inventory, management of the WMWC motor pool, annual reporting requirements, and manages other fiscally related issues for the entire Branch. Prepares wildlife related contract project reports.
- Provides statewide support and guidance for subject matters.
- Supervises and provides guidance to the Branch's Program and Projects Specialists (2) involving managing administrative logistics for Branch's statewide workforce. Supervises and provides project management guidance to Wildlife Specialists, temporary staff, and interns on program and contract projects throughout the year.
- Plans, organizes, analyzes, conducts and coordinates advanced wildlife research and habitat restoration projects.
- Attends both internal and external client meetings, in and out‑of‑state regarding ongoing or proposed research projects and other projects in response to client needs.
- Attends conferences and symposiums to network with peers and potential clients, and at times presents research findings to peer groups.
- Participates in and sometimes presents at public and professional meetings.
The candidate will have knowledge of fish and wildlife management and advanced wildlife science techniques. Understanding of job related federal, state and agency rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Ability to apply scientific data collection procedures and report writing techniques.
