Veterinary Technician - Community Clinic

As a veterinary technician, you will assist Veterinarians in all aspects of the clinic including surgery, laboratory diagnostics, fluid therapy, administration of medications, and client education all while championing AHS' core values of innovation, compassion, and excellence. You will work alongside the team to ensure high levels of patient care. You will be a relationship builder who collaborates with veterinarians, veterinarian technicians, and department leaders to solve problems and implement positive changes.

• High school diploma OR GED
• Completion of a veterinary technician program OR 1-2 years of experience working as a veterinary technician at a veterinary hospital or clinic required.
• Knowledge of phlebotomy, pharmacology, immunology, parasitology.
• Proficiency with safe and humane animal handling, TPR's, vaccines and medication administration, laboratory procedures, medical math, veterinary terminology, documentation and medical records.
• Ability to learn advanced technical procedures such as anesthesia monitoring and support.
• Ability to assist DVM with surgery, radiology, dentistry, diagnostics, patient care and recovery.
• Ability to monitor vital signs of sedated and anesthetized patients in preoperative, operative, and post-operative phases preferred.
• Ability to intubate animals, place intravenous catheters, perform venipuncture, and administer fluids as needed.
• Must possess excellent internal and external customer service skills.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. There may be occasional wet floors, animal noises, odors, and dander.

Most time will be spent in a typical air conditioned and heated office environment.
