Hi-Tech Quality Assurance Quality Control Inspector

Hi-Tech Quality Assurance Quality Control Inspector Phoenix, AZ
Hi-Tech Quality Assurance Quality Control Inspector

MMI Industrial & Steel is seeking a Field QA/QC Inspector to support our work onthe TSMC project. This role inspects structural steel work in the field, identifies quality issues, maintains accurate inspection documentation, and works directly with field leadership to ensure work meets project specifications and MMI quality standards.

This is a hands-on field position. We need someone who understands structural steel, can read drawings, pays attention to the details, and is comfortable speaking up when work does not meet requirements.

What You'll Do
  • Inspect structural steel work for compliance with drawings, specifications, approved procedures, and quality requirements.
  • Review drawings, details, measurements, and field conditions to verify work is completed correctly.
  • Identify nonconforming work and clearly communicate issues to foremen, field crews, Project Management, and QA/QC leadership.
  • Document inspections using photographs, measurements, reports, checklists, and other required records.
  • Create, process, track, and follow up on NCRs, RFIs, punch-list items, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate inspection and quality records throughout the project.
  • Coordinate with field leadership to keep inspections moving with production without compromising quality.
  • Support hold points, required sign-offs, turnover documentation, and project closeout.
  • Work with QA/QC Management, Production, Project Management, Engineering, and customer representatives to resolve quality issues.
  • Stop or hold work when required quality standards are not met and elevate significant concerns appropriately.
  • Follow all project and company safety requirements and wear required PPE.
What We're Looking For

Experience in structural steel fabrication, erection, inspection, fitting, welding, or a similar construction environment is strongly preferred. Candidates should have a solid understanding of construction or shop drawings and the ability to identify workmanship or installation issues.

You should also be comfortable documenting your findings, using computers or mobile devices, and communicating directly with field crews and leadership. Previous QA/QC inspection experience is preferred, but strong structural steel experience with demonstrated knowledge of quality requirements may also be considered.

Experience with programs such as Bluebeam, Procore, Smartsheet, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office is a plus. High-Tech, semiconductor, data center, or other large industrial project experience is also preferred.

This position works primarily in an active construction environment and requires frequent standing and walking, including navigating uneven surfaces, stairs, and active work areas. The employee may be exposed to outdoor weather, heat, noise, moving equipment, elevated work areas, and other typical construction-site conditions.

Employees must wear required PPE while working in designated areas.

This is a safety-sensitive position due to the nature of the work and the responsibility for identifying and addressing quality conditions that could impact employees, the project, or completed construction.
