Food Service Assistant (60176) – at Adams and Associates, Inc.
Join our dynamic team at Phoenix Job Corps Center to support the educational and career development of at‑risk youth. The Food Service Assistant plays a key role in ensuring smooth kitchen operations and providing high‑quality food services.
Responsibilities- Maintain the availability of food, supplies and equipment, and store them properly when not in use.
- Assist in the preparation of meals for students and staff.
- Provide thorough kitchen clean‑up, including sanitizing all food service areas.
- Transfer food, supplies and equipment between storage areas, kitchen and cafeteria.
- Wash, peel, Core fruit and vegetables as necessary.
- Set up and take down tables and chairs for events.
- Scrape, wash and store dishes, pots, pans and utensils.
- Cleans refrigerators, stoves, ovens and other kitchen equipment.
- Sweep, mop, wax and strip wax from floors and clean trash containers.
- Degrease and sanitize ventilation screens and filters.
- Provide superior customer service at all times.
- Produce quality work and assignments in a thorough, timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain appropriate attendance, accountability and productivity standards.
- Plan, prioritize and organize assignments to meet established goals and deadlines.
- Mentor, monitor and model the Career Success Standards for students.
- Provide high‑quality supervision and management for the student population, taking swift and appropriate action to positively influence behavior.
- Ensure quality services for students, pursue improvement and enhancement of services.
- Exchange ideas and information clearly in oral and written communication and contribute meaningfully to group efforts.
- Effectively articulate thoughts and ideas, identify problems, analyze causes, and evaluate appropriate solutions.
- Work in partnership with staff from all departments to ensure effective supervision and services for students.
- Accept direction and supervision from the Center Director, Duty Officer or Shift Manager.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Degree or certification from an accredited or relevant certified training program or school preferred.
- Experience in a food services operation desired.
- Ability to obtain local Food Handling/Health Certification required.
- Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling, pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping and crouching.
- Demonstrates the ability to lift 40 pounds and/or assess the lift load to request assistance.
