About the Opportunity
A Phoenix family is seeking a culinary professional to support them through the first 40 days postpartum. This period is a time for rest and recovery, nourished by warming, easy-to-digest foods. You will prepare meals so the family has nourishing food ready to eat throughout the week. This is a great opportunity for culinary students and recent graduates to gain hands‑on experience in traditional, health-focused cooking.
Responsibilities- Prepare home‑cooked meals rooted in postpartum nourishment principles, with an emphasis on soups, stews, broths, and congee
- Cook, portion, and label meals for easy reheating
- Keep the kitchen clean and organized, following safe food handling practices
- Communicate regularly about menu planning, ingredient needs, and any dietary adjustments
- Breakfast:
Congee in several varieties (black sesame, ginger chicken with green onion, adzuki bean and pumpkin), steamed eggs with rice and greens, egg drop soup - Snacks:
Roasted sweet potato, steamed pear with ginger, black sesame or walnut bites, warm jujube or barley tea - Lunch:
Ginger fried rice with salmon and greens, celery and chicken stir‑fry, grain bowls (grain, protein, cooked vegetables, toppings, and sauce) - Dinner:
Chicken soup with red dates, kabocha and lentil soup, seaweed soup, oxtail stew, miso and burdock soup
- Cook once a week, preparing all meals for the week in a single session, or
- Come every few days to cook smaller batches throughout the week
Cooking will preferably take place in our home kitchen, using our cookware and equipment. All ingredients will be sourced from local farmers markets as much as possible. The family will supply them, or you may purchase ingredients yourself and bill the family for reimbursement.
Qualifications- Current student or alumnus of a culinary program (local culinary institute preferred)

- Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work independently
- Located in or near Phoenix, or able to commute without difficulty
