Crossing Guard Position Objective

A security guard responsible for providing a security presence at the school complex by walking around the facility and monitoring activities and students; reporting the presence of unauthorized personnel to the school office.

• Monitors activities on campus to ensure the safety of students; identifies safety violations, diffuses situations among students, and reinforces positive social behavior.
• Performs minor housekeeping and groundskeeping tasks to keep the environment free of litter and/or dangerous situations.
• Assists in other duties as assigned.

High School Diploma or G.E.D.; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

• Ability to complete Crossing Guard training.
• Applicants recommended for hire will receive instructions on how to obtain a fingerprint clearance card as a condition of employment.

• Basic safety and security principles, practices, equipment, and procedures.
• Customer service principles.

• Recognizing potential security risks.
• Providing customer service.
• Communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Requires reaching, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time and may require exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally.
