Yard Assistant

The Roofing Yard Assistant supports the daily operations of the roofing yard by organizing materials, loading/unloading trucks, maintaining inventory, and ensuring a clean, safe, and efficient work environment. This role is critical in keeping roofing crews supplied and ready for field operations.

• Assist in receiving, organizing, and stocking roofing materials such as metal, shingles, foam, single-ply, BUR, and other inventory.

• Prepare and load roofing materials and equipment for crews based on job orders and daily schedules.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the yard, storage areas, and equipment.

• Assist with unloading deliveries and verifying material quantities.

• Perform regular inventory checks and notify supervisor of low-stock or missing items.

• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other yard equipment safely and effectively.

• Maintain proper safety practices and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

• Help with minor equipment maintenance, repairs, or cleaning as needed.

• Communicate with the operations and field teams to fulfill daily jobsite needs.

• Follow all company policies and procedures, including OSHA safety regulations.

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Prior experience in a roofing or construction yard environment is a plus.

• Ability to lift 50–100 lbs and work in various weather conditions.

• Forklift certification is a plus (or willing to obtain).

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to follow directions and work independently or as part of a team.

• Valid driver’s license preferred.

• Outdoors in varying weather conditions.

• May require early morning or late afternoon hours based on roofing crew schedules.

• Exposure to roofing materials, dust, debris, and noise.
