Job Description & How to Apply Below

DP Electric is a premier commercial electrical contractor with more than 30 years of experience delivering complex electrical projects across Arizona, Texas, and the Southwest. As a 100% employee-owned company, we serve a diverse range of markets including data centers, advanced manufacturing, healthcare, aviation, higher education, commercial, and industrial.

At the heart of DP Electric’s success is its dedication to cultivating industry-leading talent. Through our in-house training program, DP University, we equip employees with advanced skills and expertise to meet the ever-changing demands of modern construction. By combining technical excellence with a client-first approach, we continue to set the standard for electrical contracting in the Southwest.

The Opportunity

As a Journeyman Electrician at DP Electric, you install, maintain, and repair electrical systems on commercial and industrial projects across the state of Arizona. You read the prints, bend the pipe, make the terminations, and deliver work that meets NEC standards and passes inspection the first time, whether you are running solo or working as part of a crew.

This is a hands-on role for a licensed tradesperson who takes pride in clean, code-compliant work and sets the example for the apprentices coming up behind them. It rewards technical skill, sound judgment, and dependability, and it opens a clear path toward field leadership at DP Electric.

What You'll Do

Installation and Conduit

  • Install and maintain electrical systems, including wiring, transformers, switch gear, motors, and other components.
  • Bend and install various types of conduit, including EMT, rigid, and PVC.

Troubleshooting and Layout

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues, providing effective solutions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to execute accurate installations.

Code Compliance and Safety

  • Ensure all electrical work complies with NEC standards, local codes, and safety regulations.
  • Conduct inspections of electrical systems to maintain compliance and prevent hazards.

Collaboration and Mentorship

  • Coordinate with other trades and contractors to keep projects on schedule.
  • Train and mentor apprentices, providing guidance and hands‑on learning experiences.

Documentation and Tools

  • Maintain accurate records of electrical work performed and materials used.
  • Adhere to company tool policies and maintain the trade tools required for the role.
Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Journeyman-level electrical knowledge and field experience. Arizona does not require an individual state electrician license for this role.
  • Four (4) years of experience in commercial electrical installation and maintenance.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Preferred

  • Proficiency in advanced conduit bending techniques and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience mentoring apprentices.
  • Familiarity with NEC chapters 1 through 9 and the ability to apply code effectively.
  • Experience in both commercial and industrial electrical installations.
  • A journeyman electrician license from another state, or completion of an accredited or DOL-registered apprenticeship program.

We recognize that experience comes from many paths. An equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience that results in successful performance of the job is welcomed. Additional education may substitute for required experience on a one-for-one year basis, or vice versa.

This is a field‑based role performed on active construction sites, both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to weather and jobsite conditions. The role involves lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, crawling, working at heights, and working in confined spaces, and requires wearing personal protective equipment. Expect a fast‑paced environment that calls for focus and sound judgment under pressure.
