Position Summary

The Big Futures Specialist provides programming for youth involved in the college and career readiness initiative to prepare them for one of the three E’s:
Enrollment, Employment, or Enlistment. They provide resources, information, training, and support to youth, parents and mentors. They collaborate with external agencies and advocate for support from community partners and stakeholders. They guide volunteers and families to ensure long-term, caring relationships between matches while focusing on positive outcomes for youth.
- Develop and coordinate the Big Futures college/career readiness program
- Provide support and track all matches throughout the program to ensure completion of HS diploma
- Provide on‑going support through in‑person, email or telephone contact for the assigned matches to achieve length of match, closure and outcome evaluation goals.
- Maintain and engage identified community partnerships aimed at college/career readiness
- Communicate openly with all stakeholders in a manner that is productive and respectful.
- Engage and steward volunteers throughout enrollment and match relationship.
- Provide resources and networking opportunities for the Big Futures program including financial aid, college admittance, and scholarship opportunities.
- Provide information to parent/guardians promoting college and setting college expectations.
- Provide on‑going resources to caseload including, but not limited to: crisis intervention and referrals for counseling; advocacy; information and referrals to access resources and problem resolution.
- Maintain accurate standardized file documentation for each match.
- Obtain information and resources to become a subject matter expert in areas as they relate to college/career readiness
- Assist with group match meetings, match events, and coordination of services
- Assist with fundraising and recruitment efforts
- Work effectively with partnering sites, funders, and schools if needed
- Assist as needed at organization’s activities/events, specifically the annual graduation celebration.
- All other duties as assigned, including but not limited to, conducting standardized volunteer and client enrollment to determine appropriateness for program, identify suitable potential matches and conduct in‑person match meetings in a timely manner.
Must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an Accredited University.
Related Work Experience3-5 year proven track record in social services or in appropriate transferable responsibilities
Skills and Knowledge- Knowledge of child safety indicators.
- Excellent communications skills
- Proficient computer skills (equivalent to keyboarding at 45 wpm), MS Office Suite
- Demonstrated integrity
