APPLICATIONS DEVELOPER
Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) invites applications for the role of Applications Developer. This position is located at 150 N 18th Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85007 and falls under Salary Grade 26 with a base salary of $80,784. It is a full‑time, senior‑level position.
Job SummaryThe Applications Developer supports and customizes the Salesforce platform by creating custom applications, processes, and visual layouts using Visualforce, Apex, Java, JavaScript, and related technologies. The developer works within the Salesforce Maintenance and Operations team, following agile and traditional software life cycles, collaborating with Business Analysts, Project Managers, Scrum Masters, Testers, and Administrators to design, configure, test, and deploy effective tools.
Job Duties- Design, develop, and maintain Salesforce applications following best practices and development standards.
- Produce deliverables such as functional and technical specifications, use cases, test cases, and system documentation.
- Analyze and create reusable enterprise‑level modules and applications.
- Support production systems, resolve production issues, and respond to end‑user service requests.
- Engage with business analysts and stakeholders to understand functional requirements and maintain system documentation.
- Apply software development, project management tools, and processes to uphold business system standards.
- Train and support end users on Salesforce usage.
- Perform other related duties as assigned (typically 5%–10%).
- Extensive knowledge of multiple programming languages, database systems, development platforms, and system integration.
- Experience translating user requirements into business, functional, and testing scenarios.
- Strong understanding of Salesforce architecture, APIs, and application development.
- Proficiency in HTML, JavaScript, SQL, Java or C#, SOAP‑based web services.
- Experience with Salesforce data tools (Data Loader, Excel Connector, Demand Tools, ETL) and integration projects.
- Excellent customer service, organizational, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly, evaluate emerging solutions, manage multiple tasks, and work collaboratively across teams.

Bachelor’s degree plus five or more years of programming and analysis experience, or equivalent. Preference for candidates with Salesforce Developer experience or certification.
Pre‑Employment Requirements- Valid driver’s license.
- Valid level‑one fingerprint clearance card issued pursuant to A.R.S. 36‑113.
