Campus Recreation - Intramural Sports Graduate Assistant
Grand Canyon University is currently seeking a part-time Graduate Assistant to support the Campus Recreation department with Intramural Sports. Under the supervision of the Intramural Manager and Intramural Assistant Manager, the Graduate Assistant will assist in the day-to-day operations and supervision of the program, help plan and promote all intramural sports programs, and train and evaluate undergraduate student staff that work for the Intramural Sports department.
This position is part-time and will require working 29 hours per week.
Responsibilities- Supervise intramural activities that take place in the evenings and some weekends.
- Provide assistance in planning and supervising intramural sports activities.
- Train and evaluate student officiating skills and mechanics.
- Help schedule intramural student workers and supervisors for weekly game assignments.
- Inspect and inventory intramural equipment to ensure it is safe and ready for use, and report any issues to the Intramural Manager.
- Assist in marketing intramural programs, including social media strategies and researching new marketing trends to increase student involvement.
- Assist in hiring intramural sport officials and intramural sports supervisors.
- Research new program ideas for potential implementation into intramural sports.
- Listen and respond to student participation feedback, questions, or concerns.
- Perform other tasks assigned by the Intramural Assistant Manager, Manager, or Director of Campus Recreation.
- Accepted and enrolled in a graduate program (MBA, MED, MS Leadership, or MS Organizational Leadership and Entrepreneurship).
- Maintain an academic GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Strong background in officiating sports.
- Knowledge of recreational facility operations procedures.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Pass background check.
- Lawfully eligible to work in the U.S.
- Willingness to work during normal business hours, up to 29 hours per week.
- Provide positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement, and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
