Pool Manager and Assistant Pool Manager (Part‑Time) Aquatics 2026 Season

Make a splash and earn some cash. We are recruiting for the 2026 Aquatics Season. Part‑time opportunities are available for Pool Manager and Assistant Pool Manager.

Open during the summer months, City of Phoenix pools are a great place to learn how to swim, attend a special event, exercise, or just cool off. City of Phoenix pools offer a variety of swimming lessons, programs and activities for every age and ability level. Public pools are open six days a week and are closed on Fridays starting Memorial Day Weekend.

The schedule allows pools to be opened through Labor Day, September 7, 2026.

Position Overview

Join our aquatics team as a Pool Manager or Assistant Pool Manager. These positions will be required to obtain certifications. Please see information below in the Certification section for more details on this requirement. This recruitment will be used to fill temporary part‑time positions at City of Phoenix public pools. Candidate screening for hire is projected to run through the first Monday of July and will close sooner if positions are successfully filled.

Salary
  • Assistant Pool Manager: $21.54 per hour
  • Pool Manager: $23.74 per hour
  • Multi Pool Manager: $26.18 per hour

Seasonal part‑time employees will work up to 40 hours during the summer and are not eligible for the full package of benefits. Employees will have the opportunity to receive a free bus/light rail pass and earned paid sick time.

Pool Manager Responsibilities & Qualifications
  • Responsible for overall operation, cash‑handling, and safety of the pool facility. Provides training to staff in the areas of safety, record keeping, guest services, and all policies, procedures and duties as outlined in the Pool Operations Manual. This position may perform the duties of other aquatic positions when needed.
  • Requires a minimum of three summers of experience in aquatics, one of which involved management of a pool facility.
  • Requires the following certifications:
    Swimming Lesson Instructor, Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED by the date you take the water skills demonstration test.
  • Preferred candidates will possess:
    Star Guard Instructor certification, Starfish Swim Instructor Trainer, and the completion of 60 semester hours of college credit.
Assistant Pool Manager Responsibilities & Qualifications
  • Works with the Pool Manager to develop and execute all of the duties and will act as the Pool Manager in their absence. Assist with the training and evaluation of staff, ensures facility safety, cleanliness, operations, and guest services are maintained. Monitors regular maintenance operations and pool chemistry and accurately and fully documents all incidents that occur at the facility according to the procedures outlined in the Pool Operations Manual.

    This position may perform the duties of other aquatic positions when needed.
  • Requires a minimum of two summers of experience in aquatics.
  • Requires the following certifications:
    Swimming Lesson Instructor, Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED by the date you take the water skills demonstration test.
Both Positions
  • Applicants must complete a pre‑employment skills test on January 24, 2026, and their oral interview on February 10‑11, 2026.
  • Staff will be required to attend meetings and trainings held on evenings and weekends from February through May and must be available to work for the entire aquatics swim season beginning Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.
  • Flexible availability to work any shift, any day of the week at any of the city's outdoor pools and facilities, throughout the summer aquatic season.
  • You may be asked to work during the off‑season to cover programming, high school use, water safety and recruitment events.
  • No more than ten total days off may be requested during this period.
  • The working conditions will include heat, sun exposure, and evaporative cooling systems.
