Your new role
HLTA for ROOSE (Ryedale Out Of School Education) – permanent, part‑time (32 hours per week, Monday‑Friday 8:30‑15:15 with a 4:00 finish on Tuesday for CPD). The role will start in October 2026 and is based at the ROOSE centre at Lady Lumley’s Academy.
Role SummaryAs the HLTA you will work alongside the Centre Manager, a Teaching Assistant and an Office Manager to support KS3 and KS4 students who are either excluded, at risk or reintegrating into mainstream education. You will plan and deliver small group sessions focused on re‑engagement in Maths, English and Science, helping students progress and meet their learning goals.
Responsibilities- Plan and deliver educational sessions for small groups of 3‑4 students.
- Focus on re‑engagement and progress in Maths, English and Science.
- Support students with a 6‑week placement, facilitating reintegration or extension within mainstream schools.
- Work collaboratively with the Centre Manager, Teaching Assistant and Office Manager to ensure a cohesive learning environment.
- Access and maintain individual student progress records.
- Participate in CPD activities and professional development sessions.
While prior experience in alternative or special education is not mandatory, transferable skills and experience in teaching, mentoring or working with students at risk of exclusion are highly valued. Candidates should have strong organisational skills, the ability to work within small group settings, and a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of students.
