Overview
French Teacher/Tutor Wanted – Eager to help elementary students turn “Je ne sais pas” into “Oh la la”? Motivated to support children’s French education outside of the classroom?
PositionOxford Learning Pickering is seeking a part‑time French Teacher/Tutor/Coach for elementary students. The role is in‑person (Pickering, Ontario) with after‑school and evening hours and some Saturdays.
Responsibilities (Position Details)- Teach up to 3 students at a time, at varying levels
- Teach both online and in‑person sessions
- Follow Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
- Fill in post‑lesson notes and complete daily student communication updates
- Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
- Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
- Teaching certification an asset
- Good knowledge of the current Grades 3–8 French core curriculum
Experience
- Some experience teaching/tutoring French at a Grade 3–8 (or equivalent) level
- Strong English written and oral communication skills
- Strong French skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
- Ability to multitask and work with up to three students at a time
- In this role, you will help students develop their self‑confidence and self‑esteem, and you will be rewarded with positive engagement from students
- Part‑time position
- Salary: $18–$20 per hour
- Evenings, Monday to Friday, with some Saturday availability
This is an in‑person role located at Oxford Learning Pickering, 1105 Finch Avenue, Pickering, ON. Candidates must be able to commute to the location. Relocation packages are not provided. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.
