Description of the AssignmentWhat is the project?
The Pickering Nuclear Generating Station Refurbishment Program Involves Designing And Building a New Deep-water Intake In Lake Ontario To Improve The Plant's Cooling System. This Will Involve
- A 1.5 km-long tunnel, built by a pressurized TBM (10.15 m diameter slurry TBM);
- Two vertical shafts (onshore and offshore);
- An offshore modular intake structure, resting on the lake bed.
The project is distinguished by its proximity to an active nuclear site, requiring rigorous standards of safety, planning and coordination.
What You Will Do
The Draftsman will be responsible for preparing technical drawings and plans used in construction projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance with regulations, and alignment with project specifications.
Concretely, Your Tasks Will Be
- Collaborate with engineers, and project managers to understand project requirements
- Draw site installations with logistics and liftings operations
- Prepare drawings for utilities, traffic, dewatering drawings
- Temporary works drawings with formwork
- Ensure drawings are accurate and correspond to project requirements
- Revise drawings based on feedback and changes in project scope
- Use CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) to produce high-quality plans
- Civil works, TBM and SEM tunnelling sequences and interfaces
- Prepare drawings/inputs for civil works including the sequence of casting and reinforcement design basis
- Excavation sequence with secant piles, soldier piles, tension piles, rock anchors, struts and walers
- Provide support for permit requests
- Diploma or degree in Drafting, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
- 5 years of experience on a construction site
- 6 years of experience with AutoCAD and Revit
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills
- Rigor, ability to learn constantly
- Focused on resolving problems and providing recommendations
