As part of its growth, Velan is expanding its nuclear engineering presence in Toronto to support major projects in plant construction, refurbishment, and life extension programs.
As a Mechanical Designer, Nuclear (Manufacturing) , you will contribute to the design and development of safety critical valve solutions used in nuclear power applications. Working within a cross functional product development team, you will support projects from concept through production, in compliance with strict nuclear codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities- Design valve components and assemblies meeting customer, nuclear, and international code requirements
- Develop 3D models, drawings, calculations, and FEA
- Ensure designs address manufacturability, quality, reliability, and maintenance
- Release technical documentation and BOMs for production
- Support industrialization and first assemblies with manufacturing teams
- Apply Velan engineering standards and sound design practices
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (or equivalent)
- PEO member or eligible
- 2–5 years of engineering experience, including design exposure
- Experience in industrial equipment manufacturing (with nuclear components is a strong asset)
- Knowledge of valve / pressure vessel standards (ASME, API, ISO, etc.)
- Proficiency with 3D CAD (Creo preferred) and analysis tools (ANSYS, MathCAD, etc.)
- Understanding of machining and assembly processes
- Work on high impact nuclear energy projects
