Working with our joint venture partner Atkins Realis, Aecon Nuclear has been awarded the definition phase contract with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to assist in planning the Pickering Retube, Feeder and Boiler replacement (RF ) project. This project involves the refurbishment of four reactors and replacement of the forty‑eight steam generators at the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station.

Under the general direction of the Welding Program Lead and Welding Manager, the Welding Coordinator will work with a team of welding specialists and supervisors. The Project Coordinator supports the team and welding program by preparing welding documentation, training welding trades, and supporting field readiness and execution.

Reporting to the Welding Program Manager, the Welding Engineer will assist in the planning, organization, control, integration and completion of works related to the welding scope for the RF  project.

• Oversee technical aspects of projects and initiatives undertaken by the Reactor Building and Conventional team, specifically with regards to welding and construction.
• Prepare Aecon Technical Specifications (ATS’s) or Proposal RFQ’s to support proposal or project execution.
• Evaluate vendors’ quotations and recommend vendor selection based on performance specifications, pricing and guarantees.
• Knowledge of how to manage, implement, and provide technical guidance to execute procedure qualification records using ASME, CWB and/or AWS welding codes.
• Review and produce technical documentation related to construction and welding sequencing.
• Coordinate mechanical testing of PQRs, WPSs, WPQ and WMQs with local labs.
• Make recommendations for continuous improvement of welding innovation at Aecon Nuclear.
• Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely and robust non‑destructive examination schedules required by the project specification and applicable welding codes and standards.
