Opportunity
The Materials Manager, reporting to the Project Director, will be responsible for the planning, tracking, receipt, recording, and issuance of critical materials and equipment on the Turbine Generator Refurbishment project at Pickering Nuclear Generating Station. This role requires continuous communication with all project team members and focuses on identifying and implementing continuous improvements of material tracking and handling methods.
Responsibilities- Prepare, in collaboration with the Procurement Manager, the policies and strategies that will dictate project material management procedures.
- Prepare, in collaboration with the Construction Manager, material management plans within the overall construction strategies and schedules.
- Establish, in collaboration with Procurement and Quality Managers, the materials control procedures.
- Participate in the establishment of the department budget and administer thereafter.
- Implement and supervise activities such as maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date status of materials and equipment for upcoming work, forecasting deliveries, and acting on shortages, and providing regular updates to project management and construction teams.
- Ensure all material and equipment are properly handled, controlled, and maintained in accordance with project procedures, specifications, vendor requirements, and industry best practices.
- Coordinate all materials handling, ensuring the availability of sufficient manpower and material handling equipment.
- Ensure that sufficient qualified material control personnel are assigned to carry out the tasks defined in the Material Control Plan.
- Participate in external and internal audits, including resolving corrective actions as a result of the audit.
- Expedite materials and services to meet project schedules.
- Oversee and manage logistics between warehouse and site locations.
- Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with both quality teams and TSSA.
- Manage teams of material receivers and oversee material handling.
- Oversee and manage warehousing and logistics.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Technical (Engineering or Engineering Technology) education is an asset.
- 7+ years of engineering and/or construction project experience, including materials management and logistics.
- Strong interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team.
- Strong skills in MS Excel required.
- Experience with reviewing and aligning activities with project P6 schedules.
- Ability to identify construction materials and consumables.
- Knowledge of SharePoint and SAP applications is an asset.
- Experience with forecasting and meeting budgets is an asset.
- Knowledge of ASME Section III DIV I, N285, N286 codes and standards is an asset.
- Security clearance and compliance with nuclear export controls requirements.
- Background check includes full security check and clearance, reference checks, and comprehensive residence, employment, education, and other pertinent information.
- Pay range: $112,000 - $150,000 per year.
