We are currently seeking an experienced Nuclear Buyer to join our client's team in Pickering, Ontario. This opportunity is available on either a permanent or contract basis, depending on the successful candidate's preference and experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nuclear procurement, with direct Ontario Power Generation (OPG) experience highly preferred. This role is well suited for a procurement professional who understands the unique quality, regulatory, and compliance requirements of the nuclear industry and can effectively manage procurement activities in a fast-paced EPC or industrial environment.
- Manage the procurement lifecycle for nuclear projects, including sourcing, purchasing, and supplier management.
- Procure materials and services in accordance with nuclear quality standards, project requirements, and client specifications.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers while ensuring compliance with procurement policies and contractual obligations.
- Collaborate with engineering, project, and quality teams to support project execution.
- Ensure procurement activities align with applicable nuclear codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate procurement documentation and reporting within procurement systems.
- Minimum 2+ years of procurement experience within the nuclear power generation industry or related construction/industrial projects.
- Previous OPG procurement experience is highly preferred.
- Experience working in an EPC environment is considered a strong asset.
- Solid understanding of CSA N286, CSA N285, and CSA N299 standards is required.
- Quality Assurance experience, including supplier qualification, approvals, and audits, is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (intermediate to advanced), Word, and Outlook.
- Experience using AS7 and Passport procurement systems is required.
- Valid OPG Security Clearance is required.
- Strong organizational and negotiation skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality and compliance.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a collaborative project environment.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
