The Deputy SGR Project Director works closely with the Project Director to ensure senior level direction and support is provided to the Project. In many situations, the Deputy SGR Project Director will act on behalf of the SGR Project Director, particularly when the SGR Project Director is not available. The position provides leadership and alignment for all activities related to critical scopes, ensuring that resources are properly located, engaged, and managed to meet project requirements and align with the SGR strategy.
It is the primary point of contact to ensure a consistent, deliberate, and clear methodology is used for key decisions and advancement of deliverables.
- Lead by example to ensure a "ONE TEAM" Project-First, collaborative approach for internal, external, cross-JV and client-facing interactions.
- Support the SGR Project Director in creating and sharing the vision of project success with the team.
- Ensure the project team has a clear understanding of contractual requirements.
- Ensure the key partner is properly resourced and aligned, and resolve issues related to project execution.
- In conjunction with the SGR Project Director, ensure adequate project systems are in place to monitor the performance indicators that will lead to project success.
- Support the development and maintenance of the Project Succession Plan.
- Act as SGR Project Director when required.
- Ensure delivery of all scope in accordance with safety standards, on time, on budget, and compliant with the Contract.
- Provide regular and accurate progress updates to the SGR Project Director, Can Atom Project Controls, and the client for reporting purposes.
- Accountable for cost and schedule adherence and management of threats and opportunities, including timely escalation.
- Early identify any threats to project schedule or cost profile, or quality issues.
- Constantly monitor schedule and cost reduction opportunities across scope.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
- Drive compensatory actions related to adverse quality trends.
- Participate in regular meetings of the SGR Project Leadership Team and provide advice and support.
- Support the development and maintenance of the Project Risk Register.
- Stakeholder with the client on contract change requests.
- Track and expedite internal and external deliverables as part of the contract.
- Act as SPOC for its scope for all the SGR organization.
- Ensure support and technical assistance are deployed to the Construction team during the construction phase on site.
- Provide frequent, informal performance feedback to SGR team members.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- 10+ years of related experience, ideally in lifetime extension projects in a nuclear environment.
- Quantitative, Engineering or Construction Management Post-Secondary Degree.
- Strong Team Collaboration Skills.

- Agility & flexibility in a dynamic environment.
- Innovative problem‑solving skills.
- EPC contractor experience.
- Construction field experience in a nuclear environment.
- Mega‑project or portfolio project experience in a nuclear environment.
- Demonstrated project management knowledge (e.g., via PMI certification).
- Demonstrated leadership of construction trades and professional project staff.
- Consensus building experience.
- Claims avoidance and/or negotiation experience.
- Leadership experience in high‑performing teams.
- Primavera P6 knowledge.
- Experience with project management tools including planning, staffing, scheduling, risk management, performance measurement, and cost controls.
- Work is 100% physically present in the office/site; locations will be a mixture of project and client offices (at or around Pickering Nuclear Generating Station). Most of the time will be spent on site during execution.
- Travel as necessary to vendor sites.
