POSITION DESCRIPTION

Reporting to Manager of Inpatient Surgical, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning implementation and evaluating nursing care and practice activities in a multidisciplinary family centered care environment. You will provide care to pre & post-surgical adult patient population with a broad spectrum of medical diagnoses, including Palliative care.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario;
  • Registered Practical Nurse Diploma from an accredited community college;
  • Competent to perform CPR at a Basic Cardiac Life Support level;
  • Several years current surgical nursing experience;
  • Health assessment course, medication course;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current BPG in pressure ulcer prevention and wound /ostomy care;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of various types of wounds, dressings and VAC dressing therapy;
  • Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations;
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community;
  • Ability to work well independently and to exercise sound judgement;
  • Must have satisfactory performance record;

  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area
