Can Atom, a joint venture between Atkins
Réalis and Aecon, is delivering the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station Refurbishment Project under a collaborative contract with Ontario Power Generation. The joint venture is underway to complete the retube, feeder, and boiler replacement (RF ) of Units 5–8. Building on the successful delivery of the Darlington Refurbishment Project, the Can Atom team brings proven experience in safely executing complex nuclear projects on time and on budget to support Ontario’s clean energy future.
The Quality Inspector is responsible for the performance of all quality functions and duties as related to the RF construction activities performed under the Aecon Quality Program. The position reports to one of the Quality Control Supervisors.
What You'll Do Here
Participate in the execution of required inspections as outlined in the Construction and Inspection and Test Plans.
Perform quality inspection in accordance with the related codes and customer specifications, including dimension and visual weld inspections.
Review history documents.
Perform civil inspections as required.
Complete all associated records for individual inspections.
Support the Series Quality Control Lead on the assigned RF Series fielding questions related to quality and execution of quality inspection activities.
Obtain required training to be competent and proficient in the execution of inspections and recording of results.
Support quality control activities and processes performed under the Quality Program, including work performed by any sub‑contractor performing work under the umbrella of the assigned RF Series. QC activities will be based on approved documented processes and in accordance with the contract, technical specifications, applicable codes and standards.
Support site QC activities associated with the Project requirements for the assigned RF series.
Review and validate associated Quality Records at the earliest opportunity following completion of the field activity.
May be required to climb into awkward locations to perform inspection and tests.
What You Bring To The Team
Sound knowledge of the Safety and Quality Program principles with regards to civil work in the Nuclear industry.
Demonstrated people skills and the ability to contribute to a positive and healthy Safety and Quality Culture throughout the quality team.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Adequate computer skills to the level required to permit performance of all assigned functions and tasks.
Computer literate in MS Office.
Preferred graduate in welding technology, QA/QC or a related discipline at the University or College level.
CSA W178 Level 2 Visual Weld inspection, level 1 at a minimum would be an asset.
Ability to work weekends, holidays and nights as required and often with short notice.
Time management awareness.
Able to effectively interact with people at all levels of the organization to implement quality requirements and objectives.
Attention to detail and ability to focus on the end result.
Demonstrates a level of Individual Human Performance awareness.
Demonstrated awareness and knowledge of applicable ISO, CSA and other Technical Standards and Codes associated with the Project.
Ability to climb scaffolding.
Ability to use and wear respirators and plastic suits for long durations.
Ability to use fall restraint systems.
Ability to be exposed to temperature fluctuations.
Be subject to eye exam requirements, annually.

The expected pay range for this role is $45 - $55 per hour. Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
