Health & Safety Coordinator

- Supports and advises the company on all aspects of workplace health and safety.
- Prepares and posts weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual health and safety statistics;
- Continuously improves all aspects of the company (sound tests, air quality tests, new equipment) and stays up-to-date with TSNB (Work Safe NB) and the Occupational Health and Safety Act;
- Collaborates and coordinates certain files with external stakeholders such as doctors, subcontractors, Work Safe NB, regional safety consortiums, etc.;
- Manages workplace accident files and participates in return-to-work processes (temporary assignments and rehabilitation);
- Participates in risk analysis of equipment and workstations with corrective measures, ergonomics, tools, etc.;
- Prepares, attends, and follows up on Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings (quotes and bids, inspections, observations, expert consultants, training, incident and investigation reports, statistics, etc.);
- Prepares, attends, and follows up on meetings with individuals involved in various matters (space issues, ergonomics, heat tests, internal and external audits, inspections by Work Safe NB officers, etc.);
- Prepares, writes, presents, and updates directives, policies and procedures, regulations, work instructions, weekly safety tips, alerts, protocols, etc.;
- Ensures health and safety orientation for new office and plant employees;
- Manages the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).
- College diploma in Health and Safety or equivalent experience;
- Safety officer/specialist training certificate
- Valid JHSC certification
- Experience with LOTO, machine guarding standards and risk assessment
- Good Knowledge of WSIB
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint);
- Effective communication skills verbally, by phone, and by email with company management, colleagues, and external stakeholders;
- Strong numerical skills and mastery of applicable laws and regulations;
- Social skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team;
- Time management and prioritization skills, organizational sense;
- Work experience in metal/steel industry is preferred
- Availability to work outside regular business hours;
- Must possess all documents required to work legally in Canada.
- $65,000 to $85,000
