Outside Sales Representative - Roofing Supplies

As an Outside Sales Representative, you will sell roofing materials and accessories to roofing contractors across east Toronto, Scarborough and Durham Region, north to Peterborough (an 80 km radius around Pickering, Ontario). You will sell directly to the owners of roofing contracting companies. This role is 75% account management and 25% new business development. You will inherit 40 to 50 existing charge accounts plus a company-supplied prospect list.

This is an existing role reporting to the Sales Manager at the Pickering branch. The base salary is $70,000 – $75,000 CAD, plus an annual performance bonus.

Headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, they have approximately 175 employees and branches in Ontario, Alberta and Manitoba. They manufacture and distribute residential and flat roofing materials and accessories, including their own metal products and roofing equipment, and operate an order counter, showroom and delivery service at each branch.

Their customers are roofing contractors, primarily businesses with 1 to 99 employees.

The culture is built around customer service. Leadership provides coaching without micromanagement, and sales reps spend their time with customers rather than on internal reporting and paperwork. Employee turnover is under 10% per year, average tenure is 5 to 10 years, and several sales staff have been with the company for 20+ years.

• 3+ years of B2B sales experience preferred; outside sales experience preferred
• Inside sales, order desk or counter sales experience at a building products, industrial or trade supply distributor will be considered for candidates ready to move into outside sales
• Roofing industry experience is not required — product knowledge is learned on the job. Backgrounds selling to contractors in building materials, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, industrial or MRO supply are relevant
• Experience selling to owners of small and mid-sized businesses
• Experience managing and growing an existing book of accounts

• High school diploma minimum; college diploma is an asset
