As a Core Operator, you'll quickly become familiar with the highway as you help maintain and repair critical infrastructure. Your day may include repairing potholes and guardrails, installing and replacing signs, repairing end treatments, removing debris, and ensuring all work meets CDMC requirements.
You may also support the Emergency Response Team by responding to incidents alongside OPP, Fire, and EMS personnel, helping to keep the traveling public safe during emergencies.
When not performing highway maintenance, you'll conduct daily circle checks, maintain equipment, perform minor repairs, and complete accurate documentation, including incident reports, timesheets, fuel records, and hours‑of‑service logs.
Safety is at the forefront of everything you do, particularly when operating heavy equipment such as winter combination units, spreaders, crash trucks, and loaders.
As an essential member of the maintenance team, you'll often serve as a first point of contact in the field. If you have a safety‑focused mindset, enjoy hands‑on work, and thrive in an outdoor environment, this could be the ideal opportunity for you.
