DZ Driver/Picker
Position Type: Permanent Full-Time
Reporting To: Route Supervisor
Start Date: Immediately
Hours: Tuesday to Friday OR Monday to Friday, Saturdays as required, 6:00am OR 6:30am start
Compensation: $26.57 to $29.46 per hour
ResponsibilitiesThe DZ Driver/Picker at Miller Waste Systems is responsible for the safe, efficient collection and transport of residential waste streams. This role supports public health by ensuring timely service, adherence to safety and environmental regulations, and respectful interaction with the community.
- Be responsible for residential waste stream collections, including yard waste, blue box, green bin, and residential garbage.
- Provide customers with reliable and high-quality customer service as the proper disposal of waste streams is vital to community health.
- Adhere to the collection and delivery schedule to deliver waste to local transfer stations, compost facilities, or landfill sites efficiently.
- Follow all relevant policies and procedures of the Company, MTO, Ministry of Environment, and municipal by-laws, maintaining safety to prevent property damage, injury, or loss of life.
- Work with employees, management, residents and members of the public in a polite and respectful manner at all times.
- Return all emptied waste receptacles to the resident's property, flipped upside down at the curb, in the same place as removed.
- Lift and load garbage bags or cans weighing up to 50 lbs. from the ground into the vehicle hopper or side loader.
- Make in excess of 800 residential stops per day.
- Adherence to Miller Waste System safety protocols and familiarity with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Valid DZ Driver's Licence.
- Clean Driver's Abstract & CVOR Abstract.
- Team player with safe working habits.
- Physically fit.
- Flexibility with work schedule; statutory holidays and/or Saturdays may be required.
