Job Summary

This is a part‑time casual (as needed) Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) position at Pickerington Methodist Hospital. The role involves working with the pharmacy team to interpret, obtain, prepare/compound, label, and distribute pharmacy products for patient use while taking into consideration patient age and any other relevant information. Depending on the department, the technician may also prepare IV medications, process refill requests for non‑monitored pharmacy medications such as enteral products and respiratory medications, and handle documentation for proper use and reimbursement in accordance with department policy.

The technician participates in production, packaging, record‑keeping, and stocking tasks, and works within standard operating procedures and/or scientific methods with a moderate degree of supervision.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, hold accountability for all tasks as defined in policy, procedures, or standard of therapy.
  • Prepare and compound a comprehensive range of therapies, accurately documenting preparation activities and labeling pharmacy products according to department policy for final distribution.
  • Actively participate in the medication distribution process, including ordering, receiving, stocking, dispensing.
  • Participate in process improvement activities and propose monitoring and improvement of key metrics.
  • Support new associate training as needed and engage in T3 activities to fulfill department/patient needs and professional development opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or foreign school diploma equivalent to a U.S. high school diploma (Required).
  • Must be at least 18 years of age (Required).
  • Registered as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (Required).
  • Work requires a high‑school level of skills and good communication skills.
  • Ability to gather and interpret data in non‑complex situations.
  • Capability to exchange information and explain instructions to employees, patients, and others.
  • Consistency with existing procedures and instructions, following assignments with expected due dates and general procedures.
  • Detail‑oriented, works well in an interdisciplinary team, and adaptable to changing conditions.
Specialized Knowledge
  • Knowledge of compounding, pharmacy math skills, hospital pharmacy operations, medical terminology, and various drug names (trade generic).
